As a parent, grandparent, and lifelong learner myself, I am an avid supporter of Lifelong Faith Formation. People of all ages long to feel that they are important and contributing members of a community. From the way we set up our physical facilities, to how we do worship, to classes and outings and service projects, we should strive to offer multiple ways that people of all ages can interact, explore, reflect, and serve.<\/p>\n
One of the things a minister can do is to cast the vision of lifelong religious exploration and creating Beloved Community. Through sermons, programming, working with Boards and\u00a0 committees, in-person and through newsletters and blogs, the minister helps convey a sense of what the congregation is about. What are we called to do as a faith community? How can we bring our vision of a better world into being, even in the smallest ways we think, talk and act?<\/p>\n
I am looking forward to working with Religious Education leaders, supporting and collaborating with the staff and lay leaders and teachers to provide the best Religious Education and Exploration possible for people at every stage of life.<\/p>\n
I have always enjoyed creating learning experiences for people of all ages. I wrote a “Learning to Read” curriculum when my children were small, and shared it with many grateful parents in the liberal homeschooling movement. While in seminary, I began working on a parenting curriculum, “Solidarity Parenting”, based on UU theology and values, the latest research in child development and brain science, and what I learned over the 35 years I devoted to raising eight children. I expect to bring this project to publication in the next few years.<\/p>\n
As a student intern at Cedar Valley UU, I created a curriculum called “Crossing Boundaries: Passport to Adventure”<\/strong>, which was highly praised by my professors at Meadville Lombard Theological School. Meadville has been using it as an example for internship projects, and three UU ministers are already using in their congregations. I am currently writing a sequel Passport curriculum, to be published next fall as part of a book I am co-authoring with feminist theologian and Meadville Provost Sharon Welch.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" As a parent, grandparent, and lifelong learner myself, I am an avid supporter of Lifelong Faith Formation.
